Photography started to be my thing around 6 years ago, possibly sooner. At that time, making the best out of a super-trendy [heavy sarcasm] Olympus point and shoot camera was the highest point of my photography adventure. Then, 2006. I got into college and started to browse dpreview.com in search of some more, shall we say, serious cameras. I don’t know what made me want Nikon. Canon was a way to go; scanners, printers, cameras, … I really don’t know what made me choose Nikon, what moment, camera, photographer, … Ha.
In September 2006, before getting my first SLR, I created a Flickr account which basically marked my photography. It was probably the photos there that made me go Nikon. Flickr was my main feedback, the photos there. So, in March of 2007. I got a Nikon D80. That little buddy stick with me until, well, yesterday. For more that 5 years it was my loyal photography companion. Yes, I did wanted to replace him, a lot of times. But, never had the money to do so. It is a large sum of money and savings? Well, since I’ve been a student for all those years I would have taken me forever. So, I kinda decided to wait patiently for a wish to come true. I missed a Nikon D300, then D700. Just never had the chance to buy any of it. I knew I wanted a full frame and a serious camera. Spending all those years fiddling around with my D80 made me get to know his abilities and limitations.
Then finally, yesterday happened. With the help of my grandma, a dream came true. A Nikon D800 came out sometime in March and I knew that was the camera I wanted. Yes, I could go with the D700 plus some lens but I know I would always be wanting a D800. So yeah, right now I’m kinda overdoing the I added another zero to my D80 line, but I don’t care. I am oh-so-funny! Hehe.
Now, the camera. I am in love. Like a whole new world, comparing to my former one. I can see why all the fuss about the full frame. Can’t wait to start experimenting with the video option.
Thank you, God!
