L’HIVER

This time of year and this weather really doesn’t help me to think outside of the box with my photography. Everything is snow oriented. Even my 365 photos that I’ve been very regular with, happy to report thank you very much. At least in the last two weeks or so. Those latest 365 photos are still coming up.
So, today I met up with my friend Ivana who I haven’t seen in a really long time, couple of weeks actually. Instead of just drinking coffee, we decided to go for a walk around our little village. The weather was good, the sun was shining, the air was piercing cold. But, it was worth it.

In the place where I live (Budasevo), there is this huge pond or some kind of lake, a couple of kilometres long. During very low temperatures, it freezes and transforms into playground, for both kids and grown ups. You can ice skate or even play soccer. Or just stand in the middle of the ice and have fun on your own. I wasn’t as brave as Ivana, to hit the ice. First, I was caring my camera and I am well known for being clumsy so I didn’t want to part with my D800 just yet. We giggled and said we should bring the sled with us for me to drag my camera on it. Haha. I would do it! Secondly, I am always scared of ice breaking beneath me. You know, me considering myself fat. Hah. Pitty laugh.

Then, we headed off to the near by fields that are now covered with snow. We have the tradition of always going there regardless of the season. But, almost always end up with muddy shoes or boots. Because that is how we roll. Somehow it always turns out we go there after heavy rain. Why? Beats me. It is yet another one of our life’s mysteries. Guys, it was so gorgeous, there! Sure, our feet were frozen (if we stopped moving for a few minutes) but the warm sun somehow reached our faces and coats to a certain degree. As the time went by and the sun going bye bye, the Celsius kept dropping down.

I was to go home but Ivana invited me over to her house for a cup of tea, which felt extremely good considering our brrrr state of body. What I dreaded most, while still being at her house, was my walk home because I knew how cold it was. It still is. And it is getting worse.

Eventually, I did go home. D’oh Ines. Anyway, I got home with a bunch of photos and was really happy to start processing them. And I like each and every photo. I love to like my photos. Photographers, don’t we all? Hehe. Now, I’m off to upload a photo to my Flickr and get this baby up to my blog. God bless, beautiful people!

Lovely pictures! Everything looks so magical, they make me wish I was in this snowy place, it is just too hot in here (30º today, on a more cold day, it was 43º just two days ago) and I’ve never seen snow in person =(

Wow, that is a pretty hard core summer you’ve got over there :D
Snow is awesome for the first day or two but then the surface turns to ice and becomes difficult for walking and driving.
