Holidays Long Ago

If you’re a digital photographer, you know how easy it is to take a lot more photos than you actually need. Bottom line, it’s all about that one shot that stands out above any other, right? Then, there are other photos that still portray the moments you captured but didn’t make the final cut, initially. Since I’m in between opportunities, I browsed through my random folder and decided to share the unfortunate ones. Also, I wanted to keep a…

Roman Holiday | Vatican

If you’re Catholic, Vatican is your Mothership. If you have an appreciation for history, fine art and monumental buildings, Vatican is your Mothership. If I was to see only one place in Rome, it would be St. Peter’s square. The fact we were in Rome for two days and still managed to visit Vatican twice, says a lot. It’s like another world and everything I hoped it would be. I wanted to see the Pope. We missed him by couple…

Roman Holiday | The Empire

Here is where my inner history buff comes out. From the tiny, insignificant rume (settlement by the river) to the mightiest empire ever, Rome left an eternal legacy. You might say, behind every church in Rome, there is a Roman monument and vice versa. Since we didn’t have a lot of time and actually never entered the Forum Romanum, I couldn’t observe it from up close. Also, the Colloseo was under construction, as well.

Roman Holiday | Prelude

But, in the end, Catholic Church was the only one which carried forward the tradition of classical antiquity. Prior to actually going there and judging for myself, Rome for me was exactly the mix of those two. As a history professor, I can truly say -…

My favorite moments from Vienna

Yes, I’ve seen tourist attractions and yes, I was high above the ground in the Riesenrad but, when it all comes down to it, these moments are the ones I will remember the most. Maybe because, in the end, I am that kind of a photographer, in my heart. The last two days we were just chilling basically and in no frantic mode of seeing landmarks. Besides Jonas Reindl, Marijana took me to Cafe Francais and complimented me with a…

Vienna | The Schönbrunn Castle

If you know me, you know am I history buff and Vienna is such a historic city. Partially because of the Habsburgs who were one of the most powerful dynasties since the medieval times. My country, Croatia, was under their rule from 16th to 20th century. Castle Schönbrunn was their summer residence. Now, the Habsburgs no longer rule but their castle rules nonetheless. I’ve been to the site many times and every single time the place is packed with tourists. You just can’t get…
